The goals of the Beaver Valley Area Chapter of the Penn State Alumni Chapter are as simple as they are important: To service the Penn State Beaver Campus, its students, and to facilitate the overall service to the Beaver Valley community. In the past several years, we've worked towards these goals by:
1. Staffing the concession stand at Brodhead Cultural Center events.
2. Bringing Penn State Creamery Ice Cream to the Beaver Valley in our scoop sales at Brodhead Cultural Center events.
3. Providing Christmas gifts to more than 100 Beaver Valley children through the Annual CYS Gift Drive.
4. Giving three annual scholarships to Penn State Beaver students.
These projects will continue in the next year, but we have plans to increase our servicec to campus, students, and the community. Here's just a sample of what we have planned for the upcoming year:
· We are planning a fall build with Habitat for Humanity.
· We will offer a number of opportunities to network professionally and socially throughout the year.
· We will engage in friendly competition with students of the Penn State Beaver campus.
If you are looking for an opportunity to get involved, and consider yourself a friend of Penn State or the Penn State Beaver campus, our organization is for you. We're always looking for fresh faces and new ideas.
In my service to the Alumni Association, I often draw inspiration from my favorite line in the Penn State fight song, "Fight on State." The line - “Forever true to you, dear old White and Blue” embodies the spirit of the Alumni Association. It's a pledge and a promise to serve the University. Making that promise is easy, and we can help to repay the University for all that it has given us.
The membership dues for our chapter are modest, only $10 a year for an individual, and $15 for a family. In exchange, we also offer you opportunities for leadership, social and professional networking, and, most importantly, to have fun.
