For the Love of Haiti

Penn State Beaver students and the Student Government Association (SGA) have launched “For the Love of Haiti,” a project designed to raise money for relief efforts for victims of the Jan. 12, 2010, earthquake in Haiti.

The 7.0 magnitude earthquake killed more than 200,000 people and left more than 1 million people homeless. Refugee camps have sprung up across the poverty-stricken Caribbean country, and aid agencies are rushing to provide shelter before the spring rainy season begins.

Penn State Beaver students are collecting funds from the campus community in between classes, in the Brodhead Bistro, at athletic events, and in a variety of campus buildings.

All monetary donations will be channeled through the SGA and given directly to UNICEF, the United Nations Children's Fund. Red wristbands imprinted with “For the Love of Haiti” and red heart stickers will be given to donors to help draw attention to the cause.

Donations are welcome from the community at large. Please make checks payable to Penn State SGA and mail to:
